The first cello to be loaned through In Consortium is a magnificent instrument by Matteo Goffriller, made in Venice in 1707, and previously owned by Lorne Munroe. Munroe, the principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic for over 30 years, purchased the cello in 1954 from Rembert Wurlitzer. The Goffriller was most recently acquired in 2017 by a passionate collector, and is now on loan to Ole Akahoshi. Ole maintains an international career as soloist and chamber musician, and has been on the faculty of the Yale School of Music since 1997.
